Operations Specialist - Cairo

Job Brief

The role involves handling documentation, tracking shipments, and resolving issues related to international and domestic cargo movements (air, sea, and land). You’ll manage the full cycle of freight forwarding operations (import/export, air/sea) from booking to final delivery.

Role Description

  • Booking cargo space, scheduling transport, and coordinating with carriers, shipping lines, and agents.

  • Preparing and verifying shipping documents (invoices, bills of lading, customs declarations) while ensuring compliance with international and local regulations.

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and addressing inquiries or issues.

  • Coordinating with shipping lines, trucking companies, airlines, and warehouses.

  • Monitoring shipment progress, addressing delays proactively, and resolving logistics issues.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records within the logistics system.

  • Collaborating with finance, sales, and other internal departments.

  • Identifying process improvements to optimize operations and reduce costs.

  • Negotiating contracts with carriers and third-party logistics providers.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of freight forwarding operations and international trade regulations.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

  • Proficiency in logistics and freight management software/systems.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Familiarity with customs procedures and documentation.

  • Experience with import/export documentation and shipment tracking.

  • Fluency in English; other languages are a plus depending on the market served.

Job Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in freight forwarding (air, sea, or land).

  • Strong (verbal and written) communication skills and client relationship abilities.

  • Proficiency in preparing presentations and conducting negotiations.

  • High level of professionalism in client and team interactions.

  • Excellent time-management skills and a problem-solving mindset.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.

  • ⁠Strong knowledge of global logistics processes, including import/export procedures, transportation modes (air, sea, rail, road), and customs regulations.
